OAKS FINISH FOURTH IN WORLD SERIES

WICHITA, Kans. -- The Conejo Oaks ended their 2009 summer season with a fourth place finish in the National Baseball Congress World Series Tournament. The Oaks fell 3-7 to the Anchorage (AK) Glacier Pilots in their quarterfinal game Friday evening.

The Oaks were on the board first with a solo home run that sailed over the left field fence by starting third baseman Ryan Delgado. Delgado went 2-4 with one run and one RBI on the night. This home run was Delgado's third of the tournament, making him the home run leader.  He was the only player with multiple home runs.

A lead off single by shortstop Jarred Frierson started the third inning. Frierson came around to score after he stole second base and was driven in by a ground rule double by right fielder Kyle Jones. A sacrifice fly by first baseman David Casey later in the inning scored Jones. Frierson went 3-4 with one run on the evening. The third inning would be the last the game would hear from the Oaks.

The Oaks end their season in the NBC World Series with a fourth place tie with fellow California Collegiate League opponents, the Santa Barbara Foresters. The Foresters were eliminated early Friday morning after 14 innings with the Liberal (KS) BeeJays.
