Oaks Knock Off No.2 Seed Seattle Studs

WICHITA, Kans. -- The Conejo Oaks (3-0) continued their winning ways as they defeated the Seattle Studs 4-3 on a hot and windy Sunday afternoon. The Studs were the 2008 NBC World Series runners-up.

The Oaks started off with a bang in the second inning. Third baseman, Ryan Delgado hit his second home run of the tournament scoring two runs. Another addition to the Oaks roster from the Santa Maria Packers, DH Arin Fowble, hit a two run double in the top of the eighth to put the Oaks ahead 4-1. The Studs answered back in the same inning with a run scored off a sacrifice fly. Fowble ended the night 2-4 with two RBI.

The ninth inning was tense with runners at first and second, Seattle's Mark Rockey reached on a fielders choice and a run was driven in after a throwing error by Oaks short stop, Jarred Frierson. Closing pitcher, Ian Durham was able to finish the game without any additional hits or runs despite having the game tying runner lurking behind him on second base.

Oaks starting pitcher, Scott Bachman improved to 4-2 on the summer with the win. Bachman pitched seven complete innings giving up only one run on seven hits, walked three, and struck out six.

The Oaks will move deeper into the winners bracket as they await the winner of Sunday evening's 10pm game, the Liberal (KS) BeeJays vs. the Valley Center (KS) Diamond Dawgs. The Oaks are scheduled to play Monday the 10th at 10pm.
