Delgado Home Run Earns Oaks Victory

WICHITA, Kans. -- The Conejo Oaks improve their standings in the NBC World Series Tournament to 2-0 as they defeated the Hays (KS) Larks 8-5 on Friday evening.

The Oaks were trailing the Larks by two runs as they headed into the top of the sixth inning. One of the Oaks newest additions, Ryan Delgado, who joined the team from the Santa Maria Packers, proved his talent when he smashed a three run home run over the left field fence to give the Oaks the lead.

The Larks were never able to answer back, but the Oaks put up two more runs in the ninth to seal the victory. After a lead off single by Jake Fiss, Chris Hertz hit a single into the same location. Hertz was moved to third by a ground out and a wild pitch. During the next at bat, Hertz stole home to score the final run for the Oaks.

The next tournament game for the Oaks will be on Sunday the 9th at 1pm where they will take on the winner of Seattle Studs vs. San Diego Stars.
