Oaks Shut Out Hogs

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The Conejo Oaks (25-20, 8-10) showed impressive effort as they shut out the Cal Lutheran Hogs 12-0 on Thursday night at Sparky Anderson Field.

Starting LHP David Casey faced 15 batters in his four complete innings of work. Casey gave up only two hits, walked two, and struck out seven.

The Oaks posted their first run in the second inning. A double to right center by catcher Walker Shaw scored Jacob Fiss and Tyler Smith to take the first lead of the game. Shaw had an impressive night going 2-4 with three RBI. Later in the seventh inning, Fiss singled to center field to score Smith and Sean McIntyre. Fiss finished the game 2-4, two RBI, and two runs scored.

A leadoff double down the left field line by Smith started the ninth inning, where the Oaks posted three more runs. Smith scored with bases loaded and Shaw was walked. A Brad Greve single drove in a run and a fielders choice by Chris Talley drove in the final run of the game.

The next home game for the Oaks will be Friday the 24th as they take on the Barons from Urban Youth Academy. This California Collegiate League matchup will start at 5pm. Come cheer on the Oaks in their final week of summer baseball!
