Oaks Split Double Header with Blues

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The Conejo Oaks (23-18, 8-10) showed their competitive talent as they took on the number eight ranked team in the nation, the San Luis Obispo Blues in a Saturday afternoon double header. The Oaks split the day, winning game one 4-2 and falling just one run short in game two with a final score 10-9.

Game one starting pitcher Scott Bachman pitched six and one thirds inning against the Blues. Bachman made it through four complete innings before giving up his first hit. His outing proved successful as he improved to 2-2 on the season. Bachman gave up only two runs on four hits, walked two, and struck out seven. Offensively, center fielder Brad Greve went 3-4 with one RBI in the seven inning game.

Game two proved to be a competition with big numbers. Right away the Oaks were down by five runs after only one inning, but the home team battled back and had the game tied at eight runs apiece by the end of the fourth inning. Second baseman Jack Marder went 2-4 with a triple, double, and two RBI in game two.  Despite having posted nine runs on twelve hits, the Oaks were unable to produce in the ninth inning and were defeated by the Blues.

The Oaks continue their home stand, taking on the Cal Lutheran Hogs at Sparky Anderson Field, on Sunday at 1pm.
