OAKS DEFEAT RATTLERS TO ADVANCE

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Conejo Oaks remained successful in the Rawlings California Cup Tournament when they beat the San Luis Obispo Rattlers 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. The tournament is a qualifier for the National Baseball Congress World Series Tournament that will be in Wichita, Kansas starting on August 1^st.

With the game tied at one run a piece the Oaks took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two run double to left center by catcher Matt Scioscia. Scioscia finished the game 2-4 with two RBI. Starting pitcher Robbie Selden improved to 2-1 on the season. Selden saw only one run scored on three hits, walked one, and struck out four in his six complete innings of work.

The Oaks sealed their win in the bottom of the eight inning. Right fielder Kyle Jones hit a lead off triple to left field. Second baseman Jack Marder followed suit with a single to score Jones. Jones went on to finish 2-3 with two runs scored.

The Oaks continue in the California Cup tournament when they face league rivals, the Santa Barbara Foresters Sunday, July 12^th at 11:00am. The next home game for the Oaks will be Friday, July 17^th at 5:00pm.
