NO FIREWORKS FOR OAKS IN TOURNAMENT

 

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The Oaks were defeated twice on Saturday to end their run in the Santa Maria Invitational.

 

In the first game of the afternoon the Oaks were defeated by the San Luis Obispo Blues 8-5. First baseman David Casey scored the first run of the game with a lead off home run over the right field fence in the fifth inning. Casey would finish the game 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.

 

Down by six runs, the Oaks tried to answer back. Center fielder Kyle Jones hit a two run triple to right field and later crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Jones was 1-4 with one run scored at two RBI.

 

Game two was the division playoff game to determine the team to advance to the championship game. The Oaks fell 3-1 to the Santa Maria Pilots. After a five inning pitchers dual, the Pilots scored three runs. The Oaks tried to answer back in the seventh inning. Left fielder Jacob Fiss doubled to left center and was later scored by a single up the middle from designated hitter Sean McIntyre. This would be the only run to score for the Oaks.

 

The Oaks return to Sparky Anderson field on Friday, July 7th to take on the CLU Hogs at 5:00pm.
