SLUG FEST EARNS BIG VICTORY FOR OAKS

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The bats were on fire with sixteen base hits for the Conejo Oaks (5-5, 4-5) on Tuesday night at Sparky Anderson Field. The visiting non-league opponents, East LA Dodgers just couldn’t keep pace with the Oaks, scoring their one and only run in the first inning to lose to the Oaks 10-1.

The Oaks started the game off with three runs in the second inning. The cleanup hitter, Jacob Fiss tripled to right field and then scored the run on a right field single by starting catcher, Matt Scioscia. Later, second baseman Kenny Hatcher hit a two RBI single to left center.

Starting pitcher Matt Montgomery had five strikeouts and gave up only one run in his five innings of work for the Oaks. The bottom of the fourth was another productive inning starting off with a single to right field by first baseman Sean McIntyre. McIntyre ended the night 4-4 in his first outing as a position player. The Oaks recorded five runs on five hits and sealed their victory with one more run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Oaks travel to play non-league opponent, the Black Sox on the campus of USC tomorrow. Next home game is Thursday, June 18th at 5:00pm.
