LATE RALLY NOT ENOUGH FOR OAKS
THOUSAND OAKS,
Oaks starting pitcher Cody Thomson
had his work cut out for him, giving up four runs on four hits through the
first two innings. The Packers increased their lead with four more runs in the
top of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, center fielder Kyle Jones
doubled followed by an RBI double from left fielder Jacob Fiss
who later scored on a Matt Scioscia RBI single.
A late rally from the Oaks in the
ninth inning was just what they needed but fell short. An RBI triple to right
center by short stop Tyler Smith was followed by an RBI single from right
fielder Kenny Hatcher. The hits continued with a double from Jones, a single
from third baseman Chris LoPiccolo, and a single from
Scioscia. Scoring five runs on five hits was just not
enough for the Oaks to gain the lead.
Youth Baseball Day had a great
turnout at the ballpark. Children wearing their team jerseys had the
opportunity to participate in several on-field activities between the innings
for prizes as well as meet the players after the game for autographs.
After a day off
the Oaks will take on non-league opponents the East LA Dodgers at Sparky
Anderson Field on Tuesday, June 16th. First pitch is 5:00pm.
