OAKS START STRONG TO EARN SECOND CCL WIN

 

COMPTON, Calif. – The Conejo Oaks (2-3, 2-3) earned their second California Collegiate League win of the season with an 11-7 victory over the Urban Youth Academy Barons (1-1, 1-1).

 

The Oaks were off to a powerful start scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. The first run of the game was scored when catcher Matt Scioscia was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. David Casey then hit a double down the right field line to drive in two RBI’s. Casey later scored an additional run on a passed ball.

 

The Oaks continued their success into the next frame. After another two run double by Casey, the Barons were trailing by six runs.

 

In the fifth inning the Barons answered back, scoring three unearned runs on three Oaks errors. By the top of the seventh and the Oaks leading by five runs, the Barons made their last attempt to take the lead. Two runs were all the Barons could produce for the rest of the game.

 

The Oaks continue their CCL play with the final game of the series against the Urban Youth Academy Barons tomorrow, June 11th in Compton.

 

Next home game for the Oaks will be Friday, June 12th at 5:00pm when the Packers of Santa Maria Valley come to Ullman Stadium.

 

Sunday, June 14th is Youth Baseball Day at Sparky Anderson Field. Any child wearing their team jersey will be invited to participate in exciting activities throughout the game. Kids will also have the opportunity to meet the players for autographs following the game.
