Designated hitter Jacob Fiss then singled to right center to score Hartman. Right fielder Kenny Hatcher and second baseman Jack Marder both hit fly balls to end the inning.

After a quiet fifth inning, the Oaks came alive in the bottom of the 6th with nearly identical action from the middle of the batting order. Another Hartman single, Casey walked, Scioscia double play to leave runners at first and third. Fiss was hit by a pitch and Hatcher lined out to second base to end the inning. Oaks starting pitcher Robbie Selden was retired after six and two thirds innings with no runs on only three hits and six strike outs.

The Rattlers (4-1, 3-0) came back to take the lead in the top of the eighth inning when right fielder Jacob Domingos singled off Oaks pitcher Brett Montgomery. Domingos then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Chase Koissian. Bobby Buckner hit a single to put runners at first and third. Catcher Josh Jackson then hit a double to bring in Domingos and Buckner.
