GLOOMY SEASON OPENER FOR THE CONEJO OAKS

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The clouds were overcast as the Conejo Oaks open their 2009 season at home against the San Luis Obispo Rattlers. Game one of the three game weekend series in California Collegiate League play proved to be a battle for the Oaks who were defeated 2-6.

The first inning was successful for Oaks short stop Brad Greve who stole two bases and scored the run on a Paul Hartman sacrifice fly.

By the fifth inning the Rattlers had scored five runs off of six hits on Oaks starting pitcher Justin Shutt. An RBI single in the eighth by Bryan Willson wasn't enough for the Oaks to make a come back.

The Oaks will take on the Rattlers in game two of the series tomorrow, June 6th at Spark Anderson Field. First pitch is 5:00pm.

Sunday, June 14th is Youth Baseball Day. Any child wearing their team jersey will get to participate in fun activities throughout the game.
